Kathmandu: In an effort to break the deadlock in the parliament, Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Dev Raj Ghimire, has called for a meeting with the top leaders of the three major political parties. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Office of the Speaker in Singhadurbar.

During the meeting, Speaker Ghimire will once again appeal to the leaders of both the ruling and opposition parties to find a resolution to the ongoing deadlock in the parliament. He has extended invitations to Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' Nepali Congress President, Sher Bahadur Deuba, and main opposition party leader and CPN-UML Chair, KP Sharma Oli, along with their respective chief whips or whips.

The parliamentary session has been disrupted due to a demand for the formation of a high-level probe committee to investigate the smuggling of gold through the Tribhuvan International Airport. This obstruction has also resulted in the suspension of the National Assembly meeting.

In an attempt to reach a consensus, these efforts have been made ahead of the scheduled meeting of both Houses at 1:00 pm this afternoon. The hope is that this meeting between the top leaders will pave the way for a resolution and enable the resumption of parliamentary proceedings.
